Keeping you informed about our work for you
The Metropolitan Police Federation's 2017 Annual Report has just been published.
Here is the update from Kersten Peters, Specialist Operations – Assistant Secretary.
The Annual Review is completely separate from our brand new magazine called London Beat. Each year we will produce one Annual Review looking back on the previous year and give you a snapshot of what we have done for you as your Federation.
Within this publication you will see articles from our two current leads in Equality and Health and Safety. It has, as you can see from their articles, been a very busy year.
The current Metropolitan Police Federation General Secretary Paul Deller tells you how much money we have given to charity and the amazing work around the Just Giving page set up for Keith Palmer.
The generosity shown by you as members, as well as the public, was still to this day, breathtaking. For that I thank all of you.
In terms of legal funding, in 2017 we processed in excess of 700 Federation legal funding claims in 2017.
We have processed in excess of 520 off-duty requests for legal assistance through Arc.
You receive Arc insurance – which covers off-duty matters free – because the Metropolitan Police Federation pays this for you. Metropolitan Federation Regulation 28 policies have paid out approaching £1,500,000 supporting our members that have taken out the insurance over the last three years.
As I mentioned earlier, we also have our new magazine called London Beat that will come out three times a year.
We will use this platform to also keep you informed about the work we are doing on your behalf throughout the year.
It would also be remiss of me not to remind you to keep your eyes peeled for the next edition of London Beat to see if you are one of our Warrant Number Winners. An iPad Pro could be on its way to you.
