Tributes paid to “kind hearted and gentle” Met police officer PC Sukh Singh

Tributes have been paid to “kind hearted and gentle” Met police officer who has passed away aged 46 after contracting Covid-19.

PC Sukh Singh served with the Met for 12 years, working in the East and North East Area Basic Command Units.

He caught Covid in December and passed away in hospital on the 26th January.

PC Singh leaves behind his wife Kam and teenage children Taran and Jasmeet.

Kam Rai, Deputy Leader of Redbridge Council described PC Singh as a “dedicated public servant and one of the good guys.”

Inspector Simon Ward, from Met forensic services has started a fundraising page for PC Singh’s family.

He said: “Sukh had many friends in the MPS, creating a positive impression with all he worked with, transcending to partners within the Crown Prosecution Service who loved his ‘can do’ attitude.

“There are many positive words that have been said of Sukh. An ‘absolute diamond’, ‘a genuine guy with a cheeky grin’, ‘kind hearted and a gentle soul’ and a ‘top bloke’.”

PC Singh is one of the five serving Met officers who have died after contracting Covid-19.
