Metropolitan Police Federation Statement: Chelsea Bridge

Statement from the Metropolitan Police Federation after investigation into Chelsea Bridge incident concludes.

Matt Cane, General Secretary of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said: "Police officers in London carry out an incredibly difficult role keeping people in our nation's capital safe - and are often having to make split second and dynamic decisions that can then be scrutinised for years.

"Accountability comes with the job. But it must be fair and balanced. We are pleased to see the IOPC rightly judge that the officers in this case acted entirely appropriately during a very distressing incident.

"We have been and will continue to provide our colleagues with the support they deserve. We also commend the backing, guidance and appropriate advice given to the our frontline colleagues by their Police Federation representative.

"The Federation also thanks the work of the officers' legal team in this case."
