Metropolitan Police Federation Statement: Hainault

Statement from Metropolitan Police Federation Chair Paula Dodds following today's verdict in the Hainault case.

Paula said: "Our officers showed extraordinary bravery in tackling this violent offender armed with an incredibly dangerous weapon.

"They faced down a man who had murdered an innocent schoolboy and was intent on harming other innocent members of the public.

"Our colleagues put their own lives in danger to protect the people of Hainault. And they did it all unarmed.

"Two of our members suffered horrific injuries while trying to apprehend the assailant, who viciously attacked them.

"They are husbands, wives, son, daughters and parents who should have been going home at the end of their shifts. Not to hospital.

"We continue to support all our incredibly brave colleagues who were involved in apprehending Monzo, risking their own safety to protect others.

"We are incredibly proud of them all. They showed unbelievable courage and selflessness. They are a credit to the Metropolitan Police and are the best of us.

"Our thoughts remain with the family of Daniel Anjorin and all the other victims of this awful attack."
