IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HOW TO ACCESS THE MEMBERS SECTION

Welcome to our website relaunch, we hope our officers will enjoy the members section which is full of useful information and advice.

Any officer wishing to access the new members section (even if you have previously registered) must re-register on the site using their name, email address and warrant number.

You cannot use your work email and some officers have had difficulty using Met IT

Use a personal email and your own smartphone, laptop or tablet.

We advise against using your email as your username

For most officers their warrant number is a 6 digit number which does not include a p or their pay prefix.

You must be (or have been before retirement) a subscribing member of the Police Federation.

Once we have confirmed your warrant number, you will be able to access all areas of the site

For the best experience visiting our site you should use a more recent version of your browser application. Some officers may find that the images are not compatible with older versions of their browser.

Are you contributing to the Metropolitan Police Benevolent Fund?

The Metropolitan Police Benevolent Fund is not an insurance but a registered Met Police charity that looks after officers when they need it most. The charity relies on officer contributions.

It’s easy to sign up.  The subscription of £9.50 per month is made by Payroll deduction.

How do I know if I already subscribe?

It will show on your payslip as Ben Fund or GAYE (which just means Give As You Earn)

Sadly, in recent years, the number of officers contributing has dropped partly because we know finances are tight.

The good news is that it actually costs you less than you think. Because it is a charitable donation, it is deducted before your income is taxed.  That means for a basic rate tax payer, it actually costs £7.60 and less for a higher rate tax payer. That’s less than the cost of one drink in a London pub!

So what will my donation mean?

If you are a contributing member of the MPBF, most officers know that you can attend the Police Rehabilitation Centre at Goring

BUT you’re not just looking after yourself, you are looking after your colleagues when they need help most

What I am helping to fund?

Flint House at Goring:
Every day, police officers are assaulted or injured. Many injuries and illnesses can lead to sick leave and possibly loss of earnings.
If you are injured on or off duty, or suffering from illness, Flint House - the Police Rehabilitation Centre - can provide sophisticated and intensive treatments to suit your needs and speed your recovery.
By providing a regular, inexpensive voluntary contribution, you can ensure that you and your fellow officers will receive the level of care you deserve.
Met officers can only sign up to Goring through the Benevolent Fund not directly like other forces.

The Metropolitan and City Orphans Fund

The charity supports the children of serving and former officers of the Metropolitan Police and the City of London Police who subscribed to the Fund whilst serving and who are either deceased or retired on pension and are so incapacitated as to be unable to contribute materially to the family upkeep.

The MPF are only too aware of the dangers our officers face when dealing with the crime of today. If when they face disability, serious injury or sadly sacrifice their lives in the line of duty, then there is some comfort knowing that the fund can assist their loved ones left behind, by trying to make their lives a little more bearable.

The Metropolitan and City Police Orphans Fund needs to raise in the region of £1.2 million per annum to maintain the necessary support of unfortunate orphans during their full time education.

If you have children or may have children in the future and you were to die whilst the children were still dependent, the fund can pay a monthly income to your children, regular payments on birthdays and at Christmas or even help with university tuition fees.

The Metropolitan and City Police Relief Fund

This helps serving and former officers who find themselves in financial difficulties. These may arise from a variety of reasons - for example, a prolonged period of personal or family sickness or convalescence following an injury received during the discharge of duty.

Many officers are helped with loans or grants. A loan might help an officer who has unmanageable debt. A grant might pay for a terminally ill or seriously injured officer to take his family on holiday.

Full details of the MPBF can be found on the metfed website.
